Optimization of the concrete composition with the use of recycled concrete aggregates
Skriňáková, Eva ; Holák, Michal (referee) ; Hela, Rudolf (advisor)
Concrete as a building material is subject to continuous innovation and thanks to advanced technology and quantum of research, its properties are still improved. It is logical that the more concrete we produce, the more waste it arises. The volume of this waste can not be stored in landfills endlessly, nowadays most of the waste economies in the world are trying to recycle concrete rubble. The recycling is not such a problem, the technology has been long verified but the quality of the recycled concrete aggregate is unquestionably one of the primary assumption which leads to accomplish required properties of concrete. In fact, the recycling process is „crushing“ the concrete into particles with an effort to eliminate the cement paste on the surface of the aggregate. An ideal solution would be create a resistant and firm coating that would adhere perfectly to the cement matrix. This diploma thesis is focused on the properties of recycled concrete aggregate and methods of improvement and optimization of the concrete mix composition.
Studying the possibility of improving the frost resistance of concrete
Šafrata, Pavel ; Ťažký, Tomáš (referee) ; Hela, Rudolf (advisor)
The purpose of this study is to summarize theoretical and practical knowledge of frost resistance of concrete. It suggests, that there are numerous factors affecting the freeze-thaw resistence of concrete. These are especially raw materials, production technology, time and method of curing. The influence of addition, air entrainment and air void structure is complied and evaluated experimentally. The testing method is crucial for the evaluation of durability of concrete. Hence, this thesis includes a research of methods used around the world and practical comparison of some of them. This thesis is valuable because of implementation of the requirement in the standard ČSN EN 206 (2014) for the frost resistence of concrete in exposure classes XF1 and XF3.
Possibilities of using recycled concrete as fine aggregate replacement in cement screeds
Nováková, Iveta ; Brožovský,, jiří (referee) ; Hubáček, Adam (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with summary of knowledge about cement-based screed with partial replacement of natural aggregates by recycled aggregates. Special emphasis is given to describing and studying characteristics of cement-based flowscreed. In this study are described feedstocks with requirements which they must meet and test methods for testing properties of screeds. One part is also given to practical application of cement-based flowscreed with partial replacement of natural aggregates by recycled aggregates.
The possibility of using admixtures for waterroof concrete
Roháček, Lukáš ; Voves, Jiří (referee) ; Hubáček, Adam (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is mainly focused on additions, that have impact on water impermeability and other properities of fresh and hardened concrete. This issue is also described in short section, which is took from foreign reaserch. Thesis further discusses about the standards and regulations that determine, what properties should have waterproof constructions. Experimental part is showing influence of fly ash, slag and silica fume on conzistency, hydratation heat development, strenght, water impermeability, frost resistance and volume changes of the concrete.
Extension of Elementary School
Kuchařík, David ; Kalánek, Jiří (referee) ; Ostrý, Milan (advisor)
The thesis is focused on the design and elaboration of the project documentation of the extension of the elementary school, which is located in Starý Plzenec. The documentation contains requirements according to valid regulations. The proposal is based on the investor's request, which was published as part of the architectural competition announcement. A new building with 1 underground and 3 floors, forming the Y-shaped ground plan, is located on a slightly sloping terrain. In the building there are cloakrooms, kitchen, dining room, 4 main and 4 professional classrooms and hygienic and technical background. The project proposes a slight modification of the existing building. This proposal solves the barrier-free accessibility of both buildings, except for the attic classroom of the existing building. The project also counts from the second construction phase, the construction of a sports hall on the schools premises, which is still not dealt with. In proposal is a new main entrance to the building from the southern side. The support system is wall-mounted. The perimeter walls are made of monolithic concrete connected to concrete monolithic horizontal bearing structures. The inner bearing walls are made of ceramic blocks. The building is covered with a single-layer flat roof with a vegetation layer. The thermal insulation of the building is solved by a thermal insulation system with a ventilated facade. Fire safety, energy saving and thermal protection are provided.
Change in the durability of concrete made of recycled concrete by alternative addition of ceramic admixtures
Stavař, Tomáš ; Hoffmann, Oldřich (referee) ; Stehlík, Michal (advisor)
The master thesis dealing with problematic about durability of concrete, with use of recycled concrete and addition of silica additions. Predominant for resistance of concrete constructions is surface layer, through which aggressive gasses and liquids penetrate from surrounding environment. The most important indicator of concrete durability is ability of surface layer transmissions of aggressive substants. In experimental part will be defined the actual state of surface layer by normal testing methods. The transmissions of surface layer will be tested on concrete cubes. Tests for transmissions of air (method TORRENT), of water (method ISAT), of acid gases (dept of carbonation by quick test in 98% CO2) will be carried out and also strength tests. Assessment of positive or negative influence of additions and amount of cement on durability and mechanical properties of concrete will be discussed in conclusion.
Study of the concept of K-value and efficiency index for fly ash and slag and their assessment and determination for concrete
Šperling, Petr ; Hela, Rudolf (referee) ; Hubáček, Adam (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the use of active admixtures as a substitute for cement in concrete, specifically power plant fly ash and blast furnace slag. When using power plant fly ash and blast furnace slag as a substitute for cement in concrete, it is necessary to know their effect on concrete and to assess the different properties compared to concrete in which these admixtures are not used. This work will summarize the existing knowledge of the properties of power plant fly ash and blast furnace slag and their effect on fresh and hardened concrete. Furthermore, the possibilities of determining the efficiency index and the so-called k-value concept, which are used to assess the effect on cement mortar and concrete when replacing cement with an active admixture, will be summarized. In the experimental part, emphasis will be placed on determining the k-value. This is described in European technical standards in a very general way and is not sufficiently detailed for specific active ingredients.
Structuralism for the 21st Century
Nohejl, Jakub ; Jakšík, Petr (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
Underground culture – adaptation of an old brewery in Litovel
Drešrová, Silvie ; Bártová, Kristína (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
On the border between tradition and new knowledge, history, and the present. Between the walls and the river, older and younger. Experience culture in a different way with friends and dance, or sit with a cup of coffee or beer and listen to live music. Try a traditional craft, create, and learn about the city and its surroundings in an unusual playful way. In an instant, find yourself behind the walls or in front of them and listen to the bubbling river, bask in the sun, and feel a sense of belonging with the outdoor environment. Sit under the colonnade and watch the happenings in the market or watch a cultural performance from the gallery. Between two worlds, between young people, between the center and the suburbs, in the same place, to form one meaningful unit. Establish a stronger relationship with the city and nature and have somewhere to have fun. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, you - young people are our wealth. The location is situated on the border of the old historical core behind the medieval walls and the new suburb behind the Morava River along Božena Němcová Street in Litovel. The work deals with the adaptation of the historical spaces of the former brewery cellars and the new superstructure above them, to restore impressive spaces in an interesting place for the public, especially in the field of alternative culture and education for young people. Spaces for the meeting of this intergenerational/intermediate stratum have not yet been found in Litovel, which causes an outflow of young people from the city. An integral part is the modification of the surrounding area with the waterfront and the addition of a pedestrian or cycling promenade along the Morava River. This way, I would like to help the city live up to its title of „Hanácké Venice“ and interconnect the place and its inhabitants with water. The work also deals with the material design of a new apartment building.
